502 miles later on the first tank....

502 miles later on the first tank....
some thoughts about the car thus far:
1. Mileage: very happy with this although I feel I "worked" at this tank to get the 500. If I had not been in the city for couple of hours here and there, I would done better. My first 75 mile road trip resulted in 53.8mpg per the computer.
2. Maximizing a hybrid necessitates a lifestyle change. I get up earlier to avoid traffic, I become more patient on the road and generally find I don't pay attention to who is driving slow/fast anymore.
3. The HCHII is comfortable, I like being able to see out of the windshield so much (I'm 6').
4. I don't have to be 70 degrees all the time. I expected this based on reading this forum and have climate control set to 80. No problems thus far and it has been 90 or so here in NC.
5. I drive about 60/65 on the highway and people zoom by me. I want a bumper sticker that says "If you are passing me, you are burning too much gas"
Thanks again, I really enjoy reading on here and most importantly have learned a great deal about maximizing my car from you.

Congratulations. that is an awesome start.
I am certain that your FE and enjoyment of the car will only increase from this point forward.
Now, for the hardest part... getting the "rest" of the world to change with us!
