Default 20K CVT fluid change?

Hello everybody,
Has anybody else been thrown into a 20K CVT fluid change by the maintenance minder?
I was expecting an A1 service on my HCH at 50K which would have been oil and tire rotation. Instead the readout was A13 which is oil, tires, and Cvt fluid change. I thought the Cvt was on a 30K interval. This will make a Cvt fluid change in only 20K for me. Thanks,
Jeramie

That is normal Jeramie. Just drain and fill. 3 qts. does it for the CVT. H

Forget the MM, and just stick to a 30K CVT interval.

10K oil, rotate tires
20K oil & filter, rotate tires
30K oil, rotate tires, replace air & cabin filter, CVT oil change
3 yrs change brake fluid
100K miles sparkplugs, valve adjustment

That is all that is required to keep the car in tip-top shape.

I'd stick with the MM, minimum.

Well, I'm going to stick with the maintenance minder this time. I've had a partial grill block in through most of the fall so I'm wondering if the ECU picked up increased transmission temps and kicked the CVT fluid change early.

Hmm, interesting hypothesis. I'd be curious about this too. I tend to block half of the grill when the temps get below ~50F, and most of it for temps < ~35F.

I had my CVT fluid change recommendation by the maint.minder at ~24k miles. I assumed at that time it was mostly due to the ratio of city:highway driving coupled with the weather pattern the car has had to endure (3 moderate midwest winters -> moderate summers) ... I still think this was indeed the case with my car -- remember oil deterioration has nothing to do with the miles per se, and everything to do with the number of revolutions of moving parts. In the city, for more revolutions of an engine part, you drive less number of miles.

... but nevertheless, your theory makes me curious ... any other empirical stories to share, folks?

Cheers,
-ag
