Red face 2010 Civic Hybrid Vibration

Hi All:

Please check out the video below. It shows the problem I have been having. Essentially, in slow trafffic, stop and go conditions, if I let off the brake, and apply a little gas to creep forward, followed by applying the brake, my rpm will drop to about 500, and the car will feel like its going to stall. Then it will recover after a second or so.

This is highly annoying. Anybody else have this? The dealer told me it was a "characteristic" of the hybrid, but I dont buy it.

I sense a very little bit of vibration when I pull up to a light if the engine doesn't auto-stop. It is very slight.

Looks like a rough idle, Gumout it for 4 bucks at Autozone, if that doesn't work at least you eliminated ICE from the equation.

I am pasting this from another post I made about a similar problem, it applies here as well.

It seems the dealers aren't explaining this quite right, it is a normal operating feature though. When you idle or take your foot off the accelerator while cruising, the ECM will often shut down cylinders in order to save gas.

My HCH does this at idle too and it feels just like someone removed a plug wire and I am running on 2-3 cylinders, which is one way the car gets the mileage it does. It is a bit disconcerting at times and if you are having problems taking off from a start because of this then there is a problem with the system and it needs to be diagnosed.
