2009-2011 Honda Civic Hybrid Battery Warranty Extension

Re: 2009-2011 Honda Civic Hybrid Battery Warranty Extension
I found out one of my neighbors has a 2007 Civic Hybrid with close to 200k miles. He never got a IMA light when he owned it but wrecked it a few months back. I told him I may be interested in the IMA battery but I'm not sure what all to look for and if it will even work in my 2006. Does anyone have experience with swapping them? If so does anyone know what one would be worth? Didn't want to overpay for it but I don't want to insult him in case I need more parts down the road.

His starting number was $600 which I though was a little high. $300 sounds reasonable. I'm getting the VIN # to see if it may have been replaced under warranty before he got it.

Basically an untested core from a salvage yard with no warranty starts around this number. Knowing it works has value, but a pack with 200K on it is unlikely to be reliable as a whole, but it may have individual subpacks that may last a very long time.
Essentially, it's going to take a lot of labor and testing to establish the pack is good with any confidence of longevity.
