2006 Civic Bad Transmission
My vehicle has been making a loud clicking.shirring noise so we took it to the dealer today.
Turns out that there is a bad bearing in the transmission and we need a new trans.
I t was covered under the 5/50 powertrain butthis shouldn't have happened in my opinion. Anyone else experience this issue?

Did they actually replace the CVT. You would think they would just replace the bearing. Must be very labor intensive if they change the whole thing out? H

Re: 2006 Civic Bad Transmission
There is a very extensive section in the Service Manual regarding transmission re-build. It's likely impractical, and too expensive (in labour) for the dealership to do. Dealership mechanics are good at diagonistics (Knock on wood...) and parts add/swap. I wonder if it's similar to other complex part swaps: your transmission goes somewhere, is torn-down and re-built by skilled specialists, and your "new" transmission is actually someone else's, gone through the same process. They should tell you, if this is the case.
Lin, just for the record: is your Civic the Hybrid model, with the Continously Variable Transmission?
Anyway, stuff happens. As long as they are quick and agreeable to fix it, and do it right, it sounds like you have a good dealership.
