wow, just paid 16 bucks a spark plug @ honda!
Got the NGKs - oem from dealership, they are 18 bucks x 8 - 145 + tax, with no install!! (diy myself)
But I found the densos (which are also oem) for 8 bucks each, which is huge discount.

I got the NGK's from ebay for $7 each including shipping. Just another option. I have not installed them yet. I couldn't believe the listed price . I have another 30 000 km before I change them.

FWIW, I ran into a similar problem with the NGK OEM plugs in my VW. The dealer was charging $25 a piece (only 4 though). But I found them at Advance Auto Parts (special order) for $10. They have the HCH listed OEM plug NGK IFR5G-11K for $9.98. Not sure how wide spread AAP are.

Also, my car is a 2000 and by 2005 the dealer price finally came down to $10. Hopefully, the same will occur for the HCH, since these aren't commonly stocked parts.

My daughter has asked me if I can change her spark plugs on her 2004 Civic Hybrid. Being Dad, of course I will. Does anyone know the plug gap? How about an accessable online repair manual with basic specs?
Thanks in advance.

"Does anyone know the plug gap?"
With the 06 and onward Civic Hybrid the Shop Manual cautions against adjusting the gap. Might be the same with '04. Likely the plugs are pregapped properly, though you might want to just verify.
To the OP, it's likely not so much NGK vs Denso as Honda parts department vs third party.

Just finished replacing the plugs in my daughters civic Hybrid. Took about 45 minutes. We gapped all the plugs to .040 and used anti-sieze. Very easy to do. The dealer had quoted her close to $600.00, we did it for $65 and change. She will be able to do it herself next time, but that's ok. She will find something else on the car she will ask me to do. It's a good way to get her down for a visit.
