Default Thinking about an '03....

Hello all, as you can see I'm very new here. Very much liking the site, though! I have a quick question for any '03 Civic Hybrid owners. I'm contemplating buying one with 108,000 miles on it, great deal and it's in gorgeous shape. I'm starting to get concerned with all the stories of failed batteries. How common is this? How many miles do they normally last? I don't want to buy this car and have to replace the batteries in 6 months of something.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

At 108k and at 8 years old it very well may need a battery soon, I would have it taken to honda for a thorough IMA status check before buying it myself.

I would also be concerned about the transmission. I baby my 2003 HCH and do a transmission drain and fill twice a year.
