Does anyone know if the HCH I (2005 yr) can be retrofitted with an aftermarket sunroof? I am thinking it would be a nice addition to the car since I plan on keeping it for a long time!

Any car can be retrofited. It isn't recommended by honda though. I have heard of a few in the past that had one, but I don't remeber exactly who it was or even if they still visit this site.

One thing they have to do is relocate the dome lite furter toward the back of the car.

Yes, I visit very occasionally and only found this post on accident. Anyway, I had a sunroof installled into my new '06 Civic Hybrid II. I did post pictures in the photos area. I've had the car year now. Couldn't be happier. No leaks, no obvious signs of structural integrity loss, and I really don't know about the impact on my FE but I regularily pull the mid to high 50's MPG for a 66-odd mile daily commute (freeway mostly), 6 in city streets. They did a really good job.

Honda contracted it out to americ sunroof I think before I picked up the keys.

I'm sure you can, I put one in my Prius even though most installers said it couldn't be done. Looks like it came from the factory!
