Radio removal to install PIE HON98-AUX
Has anyone install PIE HON98-AUX on their HCH? How was it taking out the radio? Anyone have a writeup on radio removal?
For those who does not know what this is, it allow you to add a AUX input to your stock radio for about 50 bucks. Let you play music from your iPhone or anything with a 3.5mm jack to your car stock stereo.

I installed a Satellite Radio antenna splitter in my 2003 HCH which required the radio be removed. It is actually not a very straight forward process, but not difficult - just time consuming.
1st you have to remove the arm rest from the Driver seat (yes - this is not a joke). Then remove the floor/shifter console. That will give you access to (I think) four screws that allow you to remove the unit that holds the radio. Once you remove the screws, you'll have to gently pry the entire unit from the dash - not just the radio.
I found some detailed instructions somewhere on the web. Like I said, it is not difficult, just involves a lot of steps.
Hope this helps -

Yeah i have see 2 write up. One saying just to pop off the plastic piece where the 12v adapter (aka cig lighter) goes and another one saying to remove the whole arm rest piece
I was hoping for just the plastic piece but it looks like it one unit on my car, so i guess whole arm rest it is!

Success! I didn't even have to take apart the whole arm rest. Just a couple of pop in tab things, follow the directions in this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PskK...e_gdata_player
I brought a hon-aux98 for about 55 bucks on amazon and I already RCA to 3.5mm cable laying around. I choice to route the cable from the hon-aux98 box that was behind the cigarette lighter into the glove box. No drilling or modifying the dash. I could just coil up the cable and close the glove box. Whole process took me about 30 mins. all the tools i had was putty knife, phillips screw driver, and zip tie (to fasten the unit down)
