Talking Purchasing 05 hybrid manual w bad ima

Hello
Excited to be in a hybrid again-
I have Prius past experience- rebuilding and dailying high mileage -
I am purchasing a used 05 manual HCH - 250k w bad ima- any issues I should be aware of.
Hoping to drive home using new 12v battery to limp to my house an hour away-

Doable? Anything besides flipping ima switch to at least drive on 12v home----

Why?

I know many have said they are awful hybrid setups- but for the cost it's hard to beat.

*Update*

Installed a new 12v battery - aired up a low tire and car drove home 60 miles w zero issues and a charging ima - all functions work.

I think the co worker I have had a failing aged 12v along w he bought a refurbished 12v battery and it duplicated the poor 12v operation.

I will see if there is an overnight draw or change in the meantime .

I'm in your boat: I bought a 2003 HCH1 a few months ago. refurbished the CVT, did some other odds and ends to get it roadsafe and it just passed inspection!

and then: 5 minutes after leaving the inspection , the IMA came on and tossed P1600 and P1449. i'll get the subcodes today.

Im going to find a grid charger and go through that routine. i read lots of debate about charger models and doing separate cells etc,

I purchased a grid charger in order to revive lost cell alignment -
had a few recalibration periods but haven’t had any other items strange

without triggering a rehash of which grid charger is best, which did you get?
