Smile Fuel Gauge Problems?

Hello all, I have had my HCH1 for less than a month. It is currently at Honda getting the IMA battery changed under warranty. Thank God... Anyway, my question is since i have had the car, every time i put a "full" tank of fuel in it, it shows 1 bar less than that on the fuel gauge. As it does not go all the way to the "full"... Is this something i should tell the service guys to check out while it is in there getting taken apart or is this common of these cars?? Sorry for the mundane post but the major problem kinda took care of itself...

Mine always indicates full when I get the tank filled; it goes up to the top bar.

You could ask at the dealership, maybe they have a logical explanation for it.

I'm almost sure it's an issue with your fuel float in the tank it's probably not registering the final bit of gas due to a defect in the upper range voltage/current(most likely it shouldn't have passed QC at ford) of the float arm/pole.

It's very seldom this problem is caused by anything else other than a faulty ECU which is involved with fuel gauges these days on many cars.

Then again the simplest solution is to swap out the gauge with one you know will read full and if it still doesn't it's not the gauge assembly itself. Then move on to the float and then if all is good look for a very minor current draining short or a bad ECU, but I'd personally just live with it…lol

When you get your car back fill it up and count the actual bars. 20 bars should be on when it is full. I'd verify that before troubleshooting a possible non-issue.

Sometimes I find it hard to tell when the one top bar has gone out.
