Cruise control on a 2005 IMA MT
Hi.
Question.
I have just bought a civic IMA 2005, manual transition.
And have some questions already.
Is it possible to build in a cruise control system that runs on vacum?
I do not know of there is a vacum something where i can connect the cruise control to.?
Or do i need a electrical controlled cuise control system?
Also i have noticed that the steering is more heavier than my old civic.
that was not a IMA.
Is that normal behavior that a IMA steering is some heavier?
I have not yet the experience to see and feel how this goes on longer use of the IMA.
And further i want to replace the standard radio/cd player.
Is there a speed-puls available for a navigation-system on the radio connector?
And i have read that it is a hell of a job to replace a radio in a IMA, so any suggestions for that are also very welcome..
Thanks for all your help and answers.
Regards

Re: Cruise control on a 2005 IMA MT
I thought ALL HCH's came with cruise as a standard item?
What happened to yours?
I love the electric power steering. Shouldn't be 'heavy'.
Replacing the stock radio is a pain, but not overly so.

Re: Cruise control on a 2005 IMA MT
Hi,
Thanks for your REply.
Now I think i know why nobody has responded to me :-)
You all have already cruise control on board.
I live in the Netherlands, and have just bought a 2005 IMA.
And there is no Cruise control installed from factory.
The new Hybrid has indeed Cruise Control, but the older IMA not.
I also thougt the breaks did not use vacum (for braking) on the ima,
but i have just found that there is. :-)
I jus have recieved the IMA, so now i can check.
So i think i can build in my old Cruise Control system then.
About the steering, I hope to get used to the steering behavior.
It feels that every small correction you do , you must pass a sort of dead-point.
Difficult to explain, but my old civic was "easier", more smoothly steering.
It looks now that you are get tired after a long straight line of drive....
lets see how i get used to that... or not
First strange behavior i have noticed now is that almost every time when i stop the car,
remove the key, that a FAN (left one at front) is starting to run for a while.
Did not know why?
The engine shows normal temperature
If I start en stop the engine again, then the FAN is stopping?
I did not yet recieved the Owners manual, so i can not see of that is discussed in the manual.
Also AUTO-STOP, sometime it stops every time, sometimes not?
Even if the battery is good loaded?
Looks that it is working fine if the engine is "cold" and later on it is not working always?
Thanks for all your sugestions and help.
It is fun to drive and lets see how the fuel-consumption is..
Kind regards
Wik

Re: Cruise control on a 2005 IMA MT
Hi.
About NAV or CRUISE control.
Iam trying to find the Speed puls on my IMA 2005.
I have found the connector on the gearbox.
But I try to find where i can see or fetch it inside the car.
Is there a connector somewhere already for a (future) Cruise or nav system?
Or should i create a new wire from the gearbox to inside?
Anybody can check a wiring diagram from the 2005 IMA?
Thanks.
