After-market catalytic converter?

After-market catalytic converter?
Greetings,
For the last few weeks the Check Engine light and a associated code that indicates a NOx level issue with the rear catalytic converter (P2000 I think) has come-up a few times. My mechanic will reset it and it will stay off for a week or two and then come back on with the same code.
Has anyone replaced the silly expensive Honda catalytic converter with an after-market one? My Honda dealer thinks it will work but my exhaust systems vender cannpt confirm that it will work with his suppliers.
Has anyone used an after-market catalytic converter?
Along a similar line of thought could the trouble code be "cheap gas" and I just need to rest it and by Chevron, Exxon, Shell branded fuel and not mystery petrol.

Re: After-market catalytic converter?
Out of curiosity, how many miles are you at? Are you past 90K miles?
When I looked over the long term reports on various Honda hybrids at http://avt.inl.gov/hev.shtml, it seems a # of them had their transmissions and catalytic converters fail in the 90K mile range.

Thanks for the link.
I noted that the site referred to the 2003s. CVTs are a known trouble spot.
Mine is a 2004 with a manual tranny. It has 130,000 miles plus.
