2003 HCH CVT Transmission failed 93,000 miles
So the general theme I'm getting from this thread is that the transmission issue may be caused by incorrect trannie fluid. Sounds like some expensive consequences, no? I guess the other theme I'm getting--the shorter warranty not covering some people's problems--isn't exactly getting resolved with a reason or resolution. But it almost seems like both themes are due in part to the same behavior.
Now, I'm not saying that the owner is exclusively at fault here. I'm a new owner myself with 35K miles, but I'm just trying to digest all of what you guys are saying about your own HCH-I vehicles.
I was told by the original seller of my Civic that they exclusively took theirs to the same dealer. In turn, they never had a single problem. *shrugs*

I never bothered to look to see what fluid changes were done but they do list what work was done one each car. Perhaps the data will help support or disprove your hypothesis.
BTW, to add a comment to the previous poster's comment about reverse gear. The Prius doesn't have one.
I wasn't really trying to say that because I have 35,000, I'm all of a sudden an outlier. But I *was* trying to gauge whether people had problems earlier on too. In other threads, I read about how the IMA light came on but they tried to drive through it anyway.
Just feelers.

So all this rumble is because of transmission failure before the warranty expires?
Why worry? Replace it under warranty and move on!
BTW In my HAH tranny went out after 50k and was replaced at 60k after my multiple complaints on gear slippage.
In fact a premature transmission failure is very common problem in gen 6-7 Accords V6-AUTO.

Well, in my case, I believe it's 7 years/100K. Since the '03 models are over 7 years, it's only a matter a time now before people's transmissions fail, and they're no longer covered. Right?
Is this same concern bleeding through the HCH-II forum as well, or is it just older model hybrids? if the latter, I think we know why.

Honda is fixing my transmission now they agreed to pay 70% even though I am out of warrenty, we will see how long it lasts before it fails, I had my transmission replaced once already under warrenty
Did that correct the problem. This has been a issue with older HCH cars. Most of us figure the CVT is the problem when in fact the EGR valve is dirty and requires cleaning. WD-40 does a good job of it. Hal
I'm still in california, and the check engine light came on last week and I took it to a different dealership and the service advisor told me I am covered and he is getting me a battery, I'm unsure if he can get me the battery...
Oh and I never bought the new transmission, I was advised against it
