My ac quit working 2 years ago and I replaced the ac compresor and the clutch as they said the "snout" was broken. I had purchased the extended warranty and the dealer did not charge me. 2 years later it has broken again. Is anyone else having this problem? This time the ac did not stop working but the bearings were loose and it was making a lot of noise. I took it to the dealer and they wanted $1400 for the repair so I took it to my local mechanic who charged $1100.

My A/C has worked remarkably well on my 2003. I had the tubes flushed at one point (but it even worked pretty well before that). I'm actually surprised at how well the A/C works...better than any other car I've driven. That's unfortunate...but anything could go wrong.
My last car was an '85 volvo...had the A/C compressor replaced once, it worked, although not very well, for a few years and broke again. It wasn't worth fixing...drove that car with no A/C for years.
