Not sure. A few of us have been discussing this. We think it picks up (simulated) engine rpm off the ripple in the 12V DC created by the alternator.
Since the 2 Mode has no belt driven alternator and it's about $50 we thought it was too expensive of a joke.
The V10 in electric crusing through the neighborhood would be a hoot.
Especially with Ken's sound system.
