Default Humming noise near glove compartment

I started to notice this noise a few weeks ago. It's coming from the glove compartment area.

-Sounds like a hmmmmm type noise from an electric generator
-Quiet enough to hear in autostop mode in a garage and not loud enough to notice over road noise
-Doesn't always hmmmm and seems to be independent of whether I put on the climate control on or off, audio, etc.

Is this normal or should i get it checked out? it's kind of annoying when i'm sitting in the car at a stop... i just kind of zone in on it now. it definitely hums.

Can't be that. It's a flat hum. Like something is switched on that's electrical.

It could be cooling pumps. In a quiet garage, in Auto-Stop, in park, listen up front near the Chevy Bow Tie.

There are 2 pumps that cool the HV electronics. On quiet nights I can hear them as I walk away from the vehicle for several seconds after key off.

If it is the 2 pumps, you can key off from park in Auto-Stop and hear them run for several seconds. Then they will just shut off.

no, this humming noise goes off the moment i key off from park as you described and can only be heard from inside near the glove compartment in autostop, quiet area. it's not on all the time, but it's on often enough. weird.

There is another pump that runs with the engine off to pump hot engine block water to the heater.

The pump is on that side of the engine near the front of it. There may be a hose routing that allows noise transmission. Other than that maybe the heater AC blower?

there is also a hole in the bulkhead that may possibly transmit that sound.
