Default cabin circulation and fresh air

Yesterday, While I was driving behind a smoke blowing diesel truck while having my AC on with fresh air circulation off (cabine air circulation button on) I could still smell the Diesel coming inside the cabin
Is there any way to block the outside poluted air from coming into the cabin in the Tahoe when needed?

Thanks

Guss go to your dealer and ask them about the air filter that is in the Equinox, I think that this could be modified to work for you possibly.

..that you could eliminate it entirely. The only way that makes sense to me is if the pressure inside the vehicle was greater than outside the vehicle. air tends to flow into low pressure areas trying to equalize the environment. The "cockpit" of your car is in effect a low pressure area in relationship to the the outside air. maybe if you turned your fan speed all the way up you could almost equalize it but I doubt it.

This is definitely a problem in the Tahoes that I could not fix no matter what I tried. It did not occur in my '99 Silverado that I drove for 9 years before getting the '08 Tahoe. I posted about this problem in some of the other threads here, went to the dealer about it, and finally just learned to live with it.

For me, when it gets really bad, I just turn "off" the whole HVAC system.
Yes, it turns of heating and cooling, but when it's either that or choke on it, I choose the former ....

I agree with Canuck both our 2005 Silverado's a 1500 and 2500 Duramax do not have this cabin smell issue.

Today I had the climate control off, and I could still smell fumes coming into the cabin.
could the reason be somthign to do with the hybrid battery ventelation?
fumes go in from under the second seat where the battery vents are?

that run most of the time to keep the optimal temp tange in the battery pack.
NOTE DO NOT block the air flow under the 2nd row seats with anything..this could result in bad things happening!
