Default Brake Squeaking

We've had our tahoe for about a year now, and there's really been only one big problem. The brakes let out this horrible screech when it is cold outside and the car hasn't warmed up yet. and it is not just a little squeak, its loud, and it turns heads. it only does it when its cold, and it might be 55 degrees outside when it does it only once or twice. when it gets real cold it can do it for the whole ride. sometimes, you can break hard and it will stop. We've taken it to the dealership, and they said," Your just gonna have to live with it." Which is not acceptable. If you have any ideas why it squeaks when you hit the brake in cold weather, please let me know. you will be greatly appreciated.

Default maybe...

..your pads weren't seated (beded) in properly when it was new. You need to determine if its just one wheel etc. if its a single wheel you could (read your DEALER COULD) pull the wheel and the pads from that wheel to inspect them then put some anti squeal on the old pads and re-install them, but better would be to simply replace the pads on which ever axle (front or rear BOTH SIDES) then go through the bedding in procedure.

Jet is right on the money. The anti-squeal won't do much for you, as you already have the pads broken-in wrong. This can happen on any car when new or after a brake job. The dealer should have given you an option, but they are probably not going to spring for new pads, as they are never guaranteed.
I do all my own brake work, and following the bedding procedure is difficult, but worthwhile.

thanks, for the replys. I will immediately tell my dealership about this and see and have them do the procedure.
