30.1 MPG 2009 Tahoe Hybrid

Re: 30.1 MPG 2009 Tahoe Hybrid
I would think most Tahoe/Yukon hybrid owners here would say to those reading this thread and thinking about getting one based on the mileage posted here: RESULTS NOT TYPICAL.
I'm lucky to get 20mpg and I do make some effort to try to drive eco'ly
I live in Canada and have driven in lots of snow since getting it last October. I am very pleased by how it handles and so far no problems with the low air dam in the snow. I also must have 4WD or I wouldn't get out of my driveway!

Re: 30.1 MPG 2009 Tahoe Hybrid
Lot of variables, especially driving style. I'm also assuming the 10% ethenol we have in Hawaii isn't helping me with my mpg. One thing I notice is the V4 mode really helps with the mpg on the freeway. Long drives will really capitalize on that. My opinion on the Hybrid mode of the Tahoe is that you get better city mpg but not by a lot versus the 5.3L gas only Tahoe. Like most of us have said, owning this truck is more of a "statement" that you are trying to do your part to be green than a financial one.

10% ethanol should cause about a 3% drop in fuel economy due to the lower heating vaule in ethanol. So just about 5/8 mpg on the 6000 lb SUV hybrid.
I did a trip from Michigan to Denver to Yellowstone and back in a hybrid Escalade with a Thule on the roof running posted plus 3. There is a photo of it somewhere in here on a Lake Michigan beach.
4762 miles 235.1 gallons based on reciepts. Now get this. 231.8 DIC
20.25 based on odometer and gas pump.
About snow. My driveway is a 10% average grade for 800 ft. I don't plow until 6" or more. The Jay Leno chin drags but it holds up.

Re: 30.1 MPG 2009 Tahoe Hybrid
Good Evening all,
30.1 MPH is based on actually refueling and calculating the exact fuel used over the exact milage. The DIC reads on my Hybrid is about 2% low. I am a very Fussy(****) Aircraft Engineer. One additional item that I noticed was during the 650 mile trip I was in Hybrid mode 55% of the time. I completed a short distance trip today 50 miles which I seldom do and I had a MPG of 24.5. Is there something different in the computer schedualing between an 2008 and a 2009? Does anyone know? I am going to work on measuring the battery voltage in my shop over the weekend and I will post the results. Thanks for all the winter weather information it is very much appreciated.
Kind Regards Ken

Just trying to see what the best MPG could be under more than ideal conditions. So far the Tahoe Hybrid has been a very impressive vehical.

Re: 30.1 MPG 2009 Tahoe Hybrid
Good Afternoon All,
I am talking with Danny at Voliant airfilter systems and with their new blue style filter good for 100,000 miles or 4 yrs I maybe able to see a 1MPG increase. If I could get another 1MPG increase with the capacitance type spark plugs this may not be a bad investment for 2MPG. I will let you know if the airfilter system will fit and the costs involved.
Kind Regards Ken
