The 2018 EPA Fuel economy guide shows both 2wd and 4wd Sierra pickups listed at Hybrids. Mileage ratings for 2wd at 18/24 and 4wd at 16/21. Anyone heard anything about these? Mileage only 1 or 2 mpg better than 5.3 engines and not near what ours do. Humm

 

I thought my 2009 escalade hybrid gave 17/22 as city/highway.

 

EPA guide shows 2009 Escalade 4wd hybrid at 20 city, 21 highway, my Yukon at 20/20. The 2010's show a bit better on highway. Found out these new trucks are not as complex a hybrid as ours, no electric only operation

 

friend of mine recently bought a 2018 Slivy 4x4 with the E-assist system (as GM calls it) It allows the engine to autostop and provides a small amount of propulsion when driving. The way it works is the alternator is replaced with a combo generator/drive motor a controller and of course storage battery is added. It is much less complicated (cheaper for GM to build) than a two mode Hybrid. These Two mode units were probably costing GM 80 to 100k each to produce when they were in production, What is really fascinating to me is that this was done right in the middle of the GM bankruptcy. The Two Mode program must have had some really strong proponents inside GM to have not just been killed off immediately. I feel lucky to be cruising around in a 80 to 100k car that I bought for 6k LOL

This old Tahoe Hybrid makes me smile every time I jump in in to drive off.....................
