Default 2010 escalade broke down

My beloved escalade hybrid with 240,000 miles has died. Hit a bump ( because the shocks suck) and went into limp mode then within 2 miles it just stopped no transmission. But would still run for a bit . replaced the 12 volt checked connections as good as I could still nothing.Showing code p16F9. Seems to be a lost connection. I think the 300v battery is dead. I have a scanner and it looks like a lot of the cells are toast. Thought about getting rid of it but I won't get squatt
Other codes
p0c18
u180f
pobbd
u0074
u1818
u1820

Question: has anyone tried the deal on ebay for $1400 for a full set balanced? I really don't want to put $3000 grand in this truck.

P0BBD indicates the 20 block voltage range is excessive. Either a sensing issue or bad/weak cells.

update; Okay, I pulled the battery out and each side tests at 152 and 168 for a total of 320 volts? Sounds excessive but is it toast?
Could it be a bad HPSM control module? or a connection? Each battery was over 8 volts and no corrosion on the bus-bars

I don't mind taking it in to a shop so they can find the short? I 'm just not gonna pay them to fix the battery. I can do that
Thanks

P16F9 CHEVROLET Possible Causes

  • Faulty Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM)
  • Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) harness is open or shorted
  • Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) circuit poor electrical connection

the battery is not the issue YOU LOST the CAN bus network.... communication .

or the ECM is bad

p0c18 you lost power on part of the canbus network( drive motor B aka the electrical motor position sensor not learned most likely not getting power or communication )
u180f Control module communication BUS B off
pobbd (FIX THE communication ERRORS before replacement of the battery) most likely the computer can't see it that is why it's not happy about it
u0074 Control module communication Bus B off
u1818 lost communication with ECM/PCM on Bus B
u1820 EBCM communication lost

if you hit a bump then got these codes that means a connector came apart or pulled apart (i.e damaged canbus wire) somewhere... a good place to start in right next to the HV battery

THE 12volt battery make sure they're not loose under the hood

THE 12+volt battery, NOT the HV battery

☠ ☠ ☠⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ⚡DON"T TOUCH the orange cables (or red or black next to the HV battery) those cables carry high voltages ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ☠ ☠ ☠ ☠

note these are low voltage communication connectors
then next place to look would be the harness next to the battery this connector is for those codes

I would also have the 12volt battery load tested.... old 12v batteries cause U codes

Thank you Tahoe8 for the help
I had the 12 v checked they said it was good, But I replaced it anyways. I checked the connectors in the back they seemed okay.
I'll recheck that connection by the battery. I had tried to get it apart yesterday but those connections make my blood boil and I gave up.Then follow that wire, I read where some crimps can corrode and harm the harness.
Is the ECM located next to the 12 volt battery?

I was surprised when I carefully opened the 300 volt battery how clean it was not much dust or corrosion. I has the nickle busbars. I know the previous owner and he said he never had the battery worked on and he had the truck since 2011. Thats why I thought I'd make sure the battery was okay before I took it in. The dates on the battery cells say 2009? Could it still be good after 12 years? I've had this truck for 3 years and replacing that battery has always been in the back of my mind...lol

since you did say the truck went to limp mode after hitting a bump i'd assume it was a wire the got broken somewhere

the Uxxx codes mean a communication issues which need to be soloved first

did you check the fuses to the HCM, ECM and BCM?

Update, so I was going to have the truck towed and when I went to straighten the wheels I tried starting it and it started. Took it for a drive and it died again in about a mile "Service Hybrid System" was flashing. II think it's the 300 volt battery. Just testing for voltage doesn't tell you if it's bad
Has anybody saw the deal on ebay for $1400 for a full set of 40 balanced with warranty? I really don't want to put $3000 grand in this truck.

Don't buy a battery yet. fix the Can bus issue first.. so you don't waste money for nothing
see the TSB first... (I just happen to remember about this one)

if you still have the battery thing code run it tell it dies

if you do get another battery get one from green bean they have an unlimited warranty (original buyer) Also Still get the auto stop and AFM disable, MAX performance chip for it. so the engine will last longer..

Up Date: Dealer says it's the hybrid control module $4000.00 . Then in addition it still could be the 300v battery $5500.00
