2008 Hybrid Brakes Failed Several Times
once something like this pops up I always wonder...but it is old news....http://www.f-16.net/news_article1619.html...I guess I'm a "let me see it flying" kinda guy and not as a YF designation!

One thing a lot of folks dont take into account is the avionics and Situational Awareness systems available to the pilot vice just looking at the performance characteristics. Perfect example of this is the F/A-18 E/F variants. performance wise, it is actually less capable than the A-C variants, however has a major advantage in the avionics package. Same goes to the F-22 / F-35 argument. F-35 has about 60-80% capability of an F-22 (based on configuration) at half the cost. Also since the F-35 is multiservice and shares roughly 80% parts between variants means more availability of logistics. (For example, the F-4 Phantom of the Navy and Air Force during the Vietnam era) Another example is the Mig-25 and Su-27. The Mig-25 performance wise (speed) is much faster than a Su-27 variant, but the Su-27 has more capability.
There is also much talk about the F-35 being the last manned aircraft. Whether the technology will support this remains debatable, but as Baron Manfried von Richtofen once said "The quality of the box matters little, rather the man inside it is the key to success".

Hi All,
Jet 1 the Lancaster did not burn in the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum fire in Hamilton Ontario Canada. It is still flying. This one and the Queen's flight in England are the only 2 flying in the world. They lost a TBM-3E Avenger, The Confederate Air Force had a Spitfire there. There was also a 680V Turbo Commander in the hanger owned by the President. I think there were a couple other aircraft but I can't remember which ones. I was there the day of the fire.
I will start a Jet/Warbird thread.

Just to make it clear .. the Lanc in the UK is operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight NOT the Queen's Flight - Different outfit all together.
The BoBMF have Hurricane's and Spitfires too.
Their Lanc is a late model which the father of one of my university mates actually flew in RAF service after WW2. It survived because it spent most of its life in West Africa.
Just thought you would like to know ..
Pip pip ..
