I second that...You continue to post that the brakes failed when in actuallity it was the power boost. I think anyone would be happy to help you if you had an issue here. But all you seem bent on is trashing the entire product or manufacturer of said product. IF I WERE A MODERATOR ON THIS WEBSITE, I WOULD HAVE LOCKED THIS THREAD LONG AGO. AND IF THE THREAD ORIGINATOR CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT THIS POST, I WOULD BAN HIM. Be advised that all of the positive comments you are generating from other members on this website will not help you if you do pursue this in a court of law. It will certainly be gathered as evidence that owners of the same product do not feel there is justifiable evidence against the manufacturer or the product other than a minor repair issue. I too won't spend any more time addressing this. But I will see if I can get the thread locked...

Are you ref to the power assist? That's the first time I have heard it ref to as the power boost.

Of course, you can take this thread how you want it. There is an information sharing media. When it takes a couple hundred feet to stop a vehicle traveling 45 mph there is an issue....an unresolved issue.

Do you honestly think I would care if this thread was locked or deleted? It would obviously matter to GM, but not me. I don't owwn this discussion board. Whoever does is in their full right to do whatever they like with no complaints from me. And it must be interesting information as several people are tracking responses and taking time to submit information. All of the information is appreciated.

I am sharing an experience...an experience I hope no one else has to go through. I apologize if, for some reason, you are offended in any way. That was not the intent.

Lastly, you know very little of the legal system if you think any of this information as it appears here (without verification) would hold any weight in a court of law. That was definitely not the intent.

Trock55,
I personally appreciate your feedback on this issue.
I think it is very important to share major issues like that in this forum regardless if it happened to 1 or 100 vehicles. thats what this forum is all about.
As for legality, this is not the right place to discuss.
Every 1st year of production of any vehicle, will have some issues, which I am sure GM is aware of and trying to fix.
They will not admit it for sure, but at least they try to work around it to resolve it.

I am inetersted to know if your vehicle was fixed 100% or not, so pls keep us updated on this forum once you have it back.
It is a major issue if one loses brakes on a vehicle no matter what the cause is.and I woudl personnaly be as frustratd at Trock if it happend to me.
Lets just take it easy on Trock, he is just sharing his expereince like we all do on this forum.

Merry Xmas to all, and Happy new year

Default but then that is the problem here...

"....It is a major issue if one loses brakes on a vehicle"

yes it would be BUT...it is next to impossible for a vehicle to lose ALL of its brake ability as there is a MECHANICAL parking brake and a DOUBLE HYDRAULIC system the odds of all three failing is 1 in 10 million.

Thanks Guss. That's exactly what I was trying to say:

1. Brakes failed - didn't perform as expected
2. Several trips to dealership, several failures
3. Field Engineer, Service Manager and Fixed Operations Manager found the vehicle was unsafe and said it should be replaced
4. Now another Field Engineer is saying it is safe to drive...I'm hesitant to trust it. Was told the vehicle is "likely fixed".

I will let you know if the master cylinder replacement resolves the issue or if GM decides to replace the vehicle.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet hybrid. My power brakes failed and I almost hit two cars before I got the vehicle stopped! My worst nightmare is that this would have happened while I was near a busy school crossing! The service story is long and involved. If anyone else has had a similar problem please contact me at 567-224-2971. Thanks
