Love the looks and am looking forward to buying one when it comes out. However, I think it will be overpriced.

I have heard that the first Model Year will be gas only, but the second year will be Flex Fuel, or capable of running on E85 as well.

GM has invested into Cellulose Ethanol production via Costka which has demo plant in Southwestern Pa. GM has announced 50% of all vehicles will be flex fuel capable in the near future. From this, one wonders if GM is planning to operate like cellphone companies in that hardware (vehicles) and service (E85) is bundled together.

The rationale behind the investment in Coskata is to expedite the development of ethanol from non-food sources so that E85 can be delivered through existing infra-structure (ie - your friendly neighborhood gas station) at prices that allow the owner to exercise the FlexFuel option cost effectively. Coskata's process can produce ethanol from materials ranging from switchgrass to old tires. Their process also significantly reduces water requirements for ethanol processing and lowers the cost of a gallon of ethanol significantly.

I do not believe there are any plans for GM to get into the fuel supply business. Since FlexFuel vehicles can use the full range from E0 to E85, there is no benefit of bundling fuel with vehicle.

Peace,

Martin

Volt's rear leg space is very narrow and it is just a 4-seater because their batteries are located center of the cabin space.
It looks Volt's passenger space is smaller than Toyota Yaris.

Here are some pix I took of the Chevy Volt at Alt Car in September:

And here are some from Plug In America's fundraiser. We were able to get Chevy to bring the Volt to Chris's house. We got to get up close and personal with it. Maybe I should post up some interior shots too, since those are a little rarer.
