Default 2011 FEH battery question

Several years ago, i remember reading that if my hybrid battery dies, i can still operate the car as a gas only model. A friend is questioning this and in researching further, i am now getting mixed answers. One thing people are saying is that the car wont start because it used the hybrid battery to start. I dont hink that's true because the 12V battery has gone out a couple of times over the years and the car would not start when it went out. Can anyway verify if the hybrid battery dies, do i have a brick or can i keep using it as is?

thanks

Brick.

HV battery and only HV battery starts engine.

12V powers the electronics while all computers do their self-checks and handshakes. The loud click you hear from the back is the relay connecting the HV battery to the system to start the car.

Again, thank you for this. It is so validating and makes the universe just a little bit happier.
