Thumbs down What's with the speedometer?

Is there anyone that really wants the speedometer to read to 120mph on a Ford Escape Hybrid? I think it would be a lot easier to read if it only went to 80mph.

I know for a fact that the V6 Escapes are limited to 100 mph.

My first Escape experience (and the one that convinced me to buy my '04 XLT) was a rental in NM. Took it to Vegas and did a high speed run on a quiet section of Route 66 in Arizona. I would have stopped at 120 if it had let me - it could easily do it if it wasn't governed.

I haven't had my Hybrids over 75 and to do so would be counterproductive in my opinion. Not to mention tough to explain if it blew something up and Ford pulled the black box and voided the warranty.

I was talking about doing more like 95 or 100, not necessarily 75. I've just never gone over 75 in mine because I think it is kinda foolish to buy a vehicle for fuel efficiency and then run it at an extremely wasteful speed.

I do think if your FEH blows up and they read the info stored in the box and find out you were doing 95 mph, your warranty is going away due to "abuse". JMO.

oh.. well.. I doubt that either.. there's not reason you shouldnt be able to run it WFO ... it shouldnt blow up. they test run these things. If it's speed limited to 100mph like some people say and you bypas that and run it +100mph then you may have some probs with a warranty, but I;d haard to say that anything under the 100mph limit is fair play.

The FEH is also governed to 100 MPH; I asked at the FEH experience. The warranty will cover any speed under and including 100 MPH.

Sweet. Now all I need to do is find a stretch of road around Boston to do so. Doubt I will try it but I'd be curious to see what the average gas mileage would be at 100 mph....

Any test pilots out there?
