In cold weather I would agree, but for in-town use, those vehicles will get 25% or so less MPG (they will yield 22 MPG at most, using careful driving, and more likely 20 MPG would be the norm). Also, I'm not sure if the AWD versions of the Rav4 and Escape are generally available with I4. The Honda is available that way.
