In contrast, the '08 Mariner doesn't look all that different from the earlier ones. The first time I saw one on the street, I thought it was an '07. The only thing that finally clued me into it being an '08, was the integral side boards.

I wonder if the Hybrid wheels are lighter, or have a lower polar moment than the standard Escape wheels. Lighter wheels/tires will make a difference in fuel economy in stop and go driving.

Couldn't you guys just find a local company that does plating and have yours chromed? Seems like it would have to be cheaper and easier than even a factory upgrade.....granted, you'd have no wheels for a couple of days.
