Default upgrading oe factory radio?

I have 07 merc mariner hybrid with oe stereo without navigation. Can i replace this one with a used factory stereo with navigation and system performance read out IF I GET THE VIN from donor vehicle and get code from dealer? Would i need the radio canbus translator from donor vehicle for the on board system monitoribg on unit? Is it plug n play wiring wise? Thanks.

Default Re: upgrading oe factory radio?

Some people wanted to do this upgrade over the years but all were unsuccessful to my knowledge. The reason the nav system was a $2000 option in 2007 was that it took a lot of labor to install the GPS antenna, CD drive, and other electronics to do it at the factory.
A plug in OBD code reader or similar device will scan/send all of the Ford hybrid related data to your smart phone, there's no reason to attempt this upgrade these days. A smart phone has much better navigation capabilities than CDs from 12+ years ago.
