Stop safely message

Stop safely message
I get the stop safely message and the red triangle. Will it be ok to drive it 10 miles to the dealer or should I have it towed? What's annoying is that before it was the wrench and service soon message once in awhile. I took it to the dealer for the 50K service and told them about the message. They said it would $100+ to check the message and to wait. Now I need to go through this headache.

Re: Stop safely message
Can you try using a scanguage or similiar code reader or even taking to the local auto parts store in an attempt to see if you can pull the "code"? Some auto parts stores will do this for free.
Does you vehicle have all the previous TSB or recall work done?
Good luck.

Re: Stop safely message
It was in two crashes so far. The first a few years back and the second a few weeks back. After it came back from the shop, I had the dealer look it over just to be sure everything was OK. They said everything looked fine. The GM dealer I go to, it's free to read the code as long as you have them do the work too.

Re: Stop safely message
There's been other "stop safely" topics. Have you read them?
I believe there was part numbers posted for issues similar to this, mostly relays that are easy to replace and much cheaper than hours of diagnosing a problem that appears only intermittently.

Re: Stop safely message
I was concerned that the problem might be a result of the crash. Also I wanted to be sure that driving would be ok with that message. Last time I turned it on, the message didn't come on.

No they didn't say what the codes were. They didn't charge the $102 either since it was under warranty, I just paid the deductible of $50. Glad I went for the extended warranty, I'm just past 50K.
