Default Smashing battery connections?

Has anyone seen a problem where transporting stuff in the back could smash the battery connections in the back under the carpet mat? There is a bit of a gap between the 2nd row seats (when folded down) and the battery casing. I would think that it wouldn't be too hard for something to press down in that gap and harm the connection on the driver's side.

The main connection on the passenger side seems fairly protected.
