I didn't take a photo ( are we trying to prove something? ) but I went into fuel cut for about 2.5 miles at 65 MPH coming down a mountian today.

My water temp dropped from 190 to 151 in those 2.5 minutes.
( Ambient was 40 degrees )
It usually keeps the water about 171 "coasting" with gas at idle ( 0.3 GPH ).

John, does the ScanGuage report 0.0 GPH during fuel cut?

Were either of you using "L" during this time?

I got abotu 2.5 miles (twice) of fuel cut yesterday too (perhaps we were both on I-70 John?). This is the first time I've gotten it to work on the Georgetown section after leaving Loveland--probably thanks to the grill block keeping my temps high enough.

I thought it was interesting--in fuel cut, the engine rpms would spin up to about 4,000 if I took my foot off the gas. If I put it back on the gas, I could decrease the rpm down to about 1,500 by increasing pedal pressure while still staying in fuel cut mode. I really wish it entered this mode more easily and more frequently...

On a side note, I saw SoCs as low as 33.3 when I left the parking lot at Loveland and as high as 80.0 on the way down. I think those are the highest and lowest SoCs I've ever seen.

Edit for MyPart: I was in L both times I got into fuel cut.

On a steep hill, I kick it into L for 3-5 seconds untill I see open loop.
I know from years of practice now, that as soon as the RPM's rise, it is in fuel cut so I really don't need to look at the SG anymore.

After the brief rev up, I then put it back into drive to coast without the resistance as RPM's fall to "normal". Fuel cut will stay until you press the gas pedal.

My FEH battery was over 60% full, and was resistant to charge very fast ( It will continue to charge very slow to heaven knows how high....). I too have had mine up to about 80% full from regen on I70.
Yesterday, I was on Raton Pass, southern I25. The hill is steep, but not as long as I70.

In my 2009 FEH I experience fuel cut above 40 MPH as easily as taking my foot off the gas as long as the SoC is 47% and higher, but there seems to be an exception that I can't figure out. It seemed to me that fuel cut wouldn't occur when the outside temp was between 30-50 degrees, but now its been above 50 and today hit 70 degrees and for the last few days I haven't gone into fuel cut. Just Wednesday I had to stop for gas and on the way I was getting fuel cut while it was below 50 degrees and then after I stopped I no longer was getting fuel cut and haven't since even though its warmer again. Any ideas?

On a side note, I must say its nice getting into these warmer temps with MPG hitting 38 on my last tank
