Default ScanGauge Backlight Remains On

My SGII never turns off the backlight, even with the key out and overnight. It's always illuminated the next morning and with a blank display.

Is this normal operation for the SGII?

Make sure you have selected Hybrid under the Type Of Fuel setting. Other than that, mine comes on sometimes when the PCM wakes up or if you have a dome light on or door ajar.

When I park for the night the backlight does go off. But if I check again later tonight or in the morning, it's likely the backlight will be on. I did ask Ron at SG about this and sounds like it occurs sometimes due to activity on the data bus. He immediately offered to exchange it but it's not a real problem, I was just curious.

Ron did comment that the SG may eventually be capable of reading the battery SoC, sounds like they are working on that.

Yes. My backlight comes on and stays on if I ever open a door ( and get the brakes charging sounds ) or do anything else to "wake the car up" after the key has been removed for the night.

If I just park, and leave everything off in the car the whole time, the ScanGauge stays off the whole time as well.
