That was just more of the same sales pitch.....your first instinct was correct, its highly likely your vehicle does not need the services they quoted at your current mileage.

If you idle your vehicle for extended periods of time (think taxi or police), are exposed to lots of dirt/dust (think gravel roads or desert), or tow a trailer... those are the conditions that traditionally require earlier maintenance periods. None of those apply to me and I'm only a couple hours from the Canadian border.
