Default paint peeling

I was washing the car the other day, and noticed that the paint is peeling on the top of the rear hatch door, at the hinge line the paint is coming off, is there any warranty on this type of thing? I havent had a chance to look into this. is anyone else seen this problem. Its probably aluminum.

I think Ford's paint warranty is good for only 1 year. Could be 3yr/36k but I'm not sure. You need to check your paperwork at time of sale.

I have heard of Ford extending the paint coverage on vehicles if a large number experience a problem (1995 White Mustang's had the paint above the windshield bubble and flake off, followed by rust due to poor undercoat, no official recall but if you asked they would repaint until a specific date passed)

I would take it to a dealer (preferably the one you bought it from) and see what they say.

Should be covered by warranty. Take it to your dealer.

Eric -

I would stress the fact that the peeling is obviously a ""manufacturing defect".....something they should fix regardless of warranty. [my experience with the Japanese OEMs is that they respond quickly when it is something that was missed in production, a "latent" defect that takes a few months to show-up]. [ of course, I suspect you won't have as much luck..... having purchased it second-hand and not from a dealer]

If it is not a defect, Ford would have to admit that their paint process only lasts 2 years. (Unless it was caused by some sort of scrape, etc.)

Good luck
