Hi All, My sons 08 FEH tripped a p0128 last summer. I replaced the thermostat and cylinder head temp sensor [i used the Standard Motor Products sensor; i did not replace the wiring harness at the time as the original looked to be basically brand new and didn't want to cut the wires and splice in a new connector. it was fine for the next 6 months and 4-5000 miles. Anyhow, he drove the car across country to a new job on the west coast a couple of weeks ago...car did fine. Yesterday, he phoned me and said CEL came on. I had him go by oreilllys and borrow a code reader. He reported code to me as P0128. Do you guys think the aftermarket sensor has already malfunctioned? wiring? I doubt the new thermostat and housing are already toast [it was actual ford factory part] the original ford one lasted 13 years and 160,000 miles.

I am thinking of having an actual Ford branded sensor shipped to him to swap out but just curious if anyone else has had this happen again so quickly after repair.

 

It's certainly possible. I have had quite a few aftermarket parts fail quickly.

 

well, i ordered the ford oem sensor and had it shipped to him. also had to have a 19mm deep well socket shipped to him as well, lol. So far it has been several days after he cleared the code with no new CEL
