abbrev. version of long story:
I bought a new 2010 FEH on 9/23/09
Drove it from L.A. toward NC on 9/30
By the time I hit Kansas, the A/C stopped blowing cold
Only hot air came out
Long story short, I took it to Ford dealer in TN
They couldnt figure it out
I left
Got a guy on phone from CA dealership where I bought car
(They were very helpful)
I drove back to TN dealer while on phone w/CA srvce guy & his A/C expert
Arrived back at TN dealer
They spoke to TN servicemen
CA faxed wiring schematics to TN
problem turned out to be faulty "low pressure switch"
I forget the part #
TN didnt have a replacement part (it was 83 degrees btw)
TN managed to fix lp switch somehow & told me if ac failed again to just "tap on the switch" which they pointed out to me under hood
I called ahead to Asheville Ford & they ordered part for my arrival
part came in today
I'm goin there tomorrow to have it replaced (although a/c worked fine after TN)
overall...I was PISSED, but everybody I dealt with was cool & plenty helpful
ps I have an AWD & am averaging 30mpg
pps I love the sirius (re; another thread)
more to come

P.S.
Separately...I have around 3200 miles on her now and am going into a dealership tomorrow for service.
Simple Q: Should I change the oil tomorrow (to full synthetic) or wait for 5k or 10k total miles on odometer b4 first change?
Change or wait...
pls...just a simple reply appreciated...I've tried searching threads and cant seem to get a simple, straight answer.
Bottom line: What is the number of miles one should do the first oil change at (assuming "normal driving conditions")?
TIA

You don't have an FEH with "normal driving conditions", not even close.

I hope you didn't make very much use of CC for that cross country drive...

It would have taken all of 30 seconds for an A/C specialist shop to determine the fault with your A/C. It is rare for a "marque" dealer to have a certified A/C technician on staff, even in TN.

Bottom line... it's your ride. If you want to have it for a LONG time. more than lets say 200,000 miles then change over to full synth sooner than later. If like me you think that ford put some good men and women on this build then go with what Ford says and do your oil changes when the SUV tells you ergo the % oil used indicator.

All that boiled down.... it's your ride, treat it like you want it to treat you.
