I recently purchased a 2006 escape hybrid with 24,000 miles on it. So far so good. Today I changed the oil, no problem. But I couldn't find any grease zerks like the "old" style vehicles had. Do hybrids require chasis lube? If so where are the zerks?

Also, does anybody know where the battery air filter is located and is that something that a person can change himself?

Yes you can change the filter yourself. Open the hatch, on the left rear quarterpanel you'll see a removable cover. Remove it... under that is another black rectangular cover, remove it, the filter slides into their. Its a very small all paper filter.
