Exclamation New Epa Fe Ratings

Starting with model year 2008, the EPA fuel economy (
MPG) ratings will be adjusted downwards to consider
winter driving conditions, air conditioner use in
summer, and higher posted speed limits in recent
years. This is how the new system affects current models.

Note: The car's have not changed, just the way EPA
calculates the "average" gas mileage.

All numbers are MPG city / highway

Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD OLD SYSTEM: 36 / 31
Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD NEW SYSTEM: 30 / 28

Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD OLD SYSTEM: 33 / 29
Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD NEW SYSTEM: 28 / 26

Ford Escape V6 2WD OLD SYSTEM: 20 / 25
Ford Escape V6 2WD NEW SYSTEM: 17 / 23

Ford Escape V6 4WD OLD SYSTEM: 18 / 22
Ford Escape V6 4WD NEW SYSTEM: 16 / 20

Toyota Prius OLD SYSTEM: 60 / 51
Toyota Prius NEW SYSTEM: 48 / 45

Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2WD OLD SYSTEM: 33 / 28
Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2WD NEW SYSTEM: 28 / 25

John,
I believe these are the new EPA tests of the 2007 body style. I remember reading somewhere the new '08 body style is good for a few more mpg(less weight). Check out https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...ad.php?t=12139
Anyways, on Ford.com it list mpg for the '08 at 34/30 FWD and 29/27 mpg (new EPA test).

Nate

For clarity, these numbers apply to current models on the road, not 2008.
