what are the difference in years when it comes to the message centers including fwd and 4wd with gps? I own a 2005 and a 2006 ford escape hybrid and i noticed that my message centers on the gauge clusters are different such as my 2005 4wd not showing oil life percentage and real time fuel efficiency. My 2005 has the gps cd player that displays realtime fuel and battery readings but it also displays a some of these on the gauge cluster

My 2006 shows oil,fuel,distance,etc on my gauge cluster..

my question is shouldnt my 2005 4wd atleast show oil life and realtime fuel on the gauge cluster while still having realtime fuel milage on my gps screen. My 2005 owners manual says i should atleast have oillife and realtime fuel on my gauge. Can i upgrade to get these features?

Did the 2007's include anything other features that i havent brought up?

 

2005's went to market with a lot of features not ready.
You don't need an expensive electronic ignition key either.
Any $1 hardware store copy will start/run the 2005 but not later years.

 

I found out the spare key not having to be programmed on the 2005's so suprising after cutting my key and starting my escape.. its nice that they didnt require transponder keys in 2005. My 2005 seems louder with the cooling pump and fuel pump noise than my 2006 escape hybrid fwd.


Im wondering also if theres maybe an oil life sensor that i dont have or is not functioning that could make my escape not display oil life. Does anyone else own a 2005 ford escape 4wd with gps and not display oil life on the dash gauge cluster or does theirs display it.

 

None of the 2005 that I've heard of display oil life remaining.

 

thats weird cause they have it in the owners manual printed oct 2003.

 

Depends on what your calling the Message Center? There is a oil life remaining on my '09 FE but that in/on the mileage display/info area of the dash. You control what's displayed the using the three buttons. Not sure if it was the same in '05.

 

That was a gas Escape that did not have 10,000 mile oil changes. My '05 FEH did not have it either, but my '09 FEH does.
