Six Ford Escape Hybrids last week gained the treasured NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission's medallions and quietly - no pun intended - hit the road to operate in the Big Apple, according to the New York Times.

Yep. Saw one last week on Manhattan's west side. Painted the same orangey-yellow as all the other NYC cabs. Looked pretty good.
FYI most NYC cabs are Crown Vics, there are some Honda and Isuzu vans running around (those with the exit doors on both sides), and a few Explorers.
