Gas Tank Sloshes?
I just bought a new '06 Mercury Mariner Hybrid and filled it up with gas for the first time. After filling it up, I heard a weird sloshing noise as if the gas was moving around in the tank. I haven't heard this until now and the tank was almost full at the dealer (I filled it up at 1/4 of a tank). Will this sloshing noise go away? Is it normal?
Thanks,
-Mike

Thanks, as long as someone else has had the same experience
. It seems to have lessened as I've driven a little bit. It also only happened while stopping. I can deal with that if I get 30+ mpg.

more water equals more noise. i always hear sloshing after i fill up the tank, and since your engine will often shut down while slowing/stopping, you hear all these weird extra "car noises" including shifting liquids.
congrats on the new ride...i still haven't seen a MMH on the road yet!
Thanks.
I'm just beginning to realize how many noises a car makes! It's crazy to even be able to occaisionally hear a sandy road as you drive over it. My previous car (a Saturn SL2) was quite a bit noisier. It's still unsettling to be driving slowly on an empty quiet street with the ICE shut down.
The MMH is nice. I was lucky to be at a dealership where they had one available (a previous deal had fallen through - good luck for me). I was impressed with the Escape's FE and versatility but I like the way the MMH looks better than the Escape.
