Ford Escape Hybrid Owner Complaints
This has been discussed many times, in many posts.
In brief, the green graph is the most recent 15 minutes of data.
This data is discarded every time the key is turned off.
The white bar with xx.x MPG is an average since the last time it was reset, or the most recent 2000 minutes of data if never reset.
( IMHO, 2000 seems like an awfully round number, dealing with electronics and memory, it may be something like 2056, but word on the street is 2000 data points, and one data point per minute.... I know you HATE the term "rounding" so I'll use the term "squared off". When Ford said that it holds 2000 points... they may have squared off 2056... but just a theory...I suppose you could program it to hold exactly 2000 points if you wanted to. )
In very general terms, about 3 tanks is the longest "average" you can have on the screen.

Two microseconds? Life of the car? Since last reset? The manual gives the same treatment to the display in the message center. Do they really not know that the word "average" doesn't mean anything unless you specify what it is you are averaging over? Or is this another thing they are keeping secret from owners?

Am I the only one who doesn't know what it is? It extends the full length of the windshield.

BTW, I don't "hate" rounding, scientists do it all the time, I just want the term to be used to be used correctly.
2000 minutes is a long time (even if it's really 2056). That's a thousand miles of driving (round number). My car is now showing 30.0 mpg on that bar, but I've been doing a lot of cold starts in which I only go a few miles.

My Escape experenced the brake failure. It would fail at random times, brake light would come on at the time of applying the brakes. Braking was 50%(?) of normal at the time of failure. I shut off the vehicle, and brakes were OK for days, then a "surprise" occured. Took it to a local 2 man dealer, well, you can guess the results there. Took it to one of the big city dealers, vehicle was there for about two weeks. They were aware of the TSB, but my vehicle was over the serial number reffered to in the TSB. So, they tore apart my dash board, cleaned & tested all of the electrical connections, returned it to me, I returned the vehicle the next day with the same problem. They also destroyed my new dash, took them to court, settled on dealer installing a new dash.
Turns out the problem was the master cylinder, the TSB serial numbers are incorrect.
My Escape now has over 50,000 miles on it, and I love the car. Original tires are noisy junk, I installed Goodyears, with no drop of mileage. My 2 cents worth. Thanks, Bob Bowman

I've not been able to find any brake system TSB on the Hybrid that makes a reference to a serial number.
Just so we know, what kind of tires specifically, and what kind of MPGs are you getting (and of course, 4WD or 2WD) please?
K, I did not even know websites like this existed until my friend at work told me to look it up. I have deen driving my FEH for a little over a year and have loved it. However, about a month ago I came out of work one morning (I work nights) to find that my car would not turn on. Nothing electrical would work. I did not leave anything on (lights, etc) and could not find a reason for this to happen. I got a friend to jump start it and I took it to the dealership. After having it for about a week they told me they could not find anything wrong with it or draining the battery. I thought it was a one time fluke. Yesterday when I got out of work the same thing happened again. I have not added anything to the original car and do not leave anything running in it. Does anyone know what could be going on???
