FEH 4wd Motorcycle Carrier hitch setup
I know the 1k hitch rating has been beat to death here... But haven't found specifics on these motorcycle carriers... 2006 FEH 4wd. I would think the fact that it is 4wd/awd would put the safety factor up on the max 1k tow rating? Default uHaul hitch setup on this vehicle is a class III. I'm not trying to haul 3.5k in a trailer behind me, so I'm getting rid of wind resistance. I want to attach a motorcycle carrier that is not hauled, but all weight on the tounge. A 320 pound DRZ bike. From what I am reading, this is technically the same as hauling 3.2k in a trailer behind the vehicle? It doesn't seem as bad to me for some reason. Sooooo have any of the guys here that haul over the 1k restriction tried carrying a bike with this setup? Thoughts? It is hilly out here in SoCal but I'm fine going slow and usually only 2 hour or so drives... Shouldn't the better breaking on the 4wd make this a little better than hauling behind the 2wd? Thank u in advance
If I understand correctly, you want to put a 320 pound motorcycle on a hitch mounted carrier - no trailer. I think a heavy duty hitch will handle it, but it may handle squirrelly. Rear air bags might help somewhat.
