Default FEH 2008 - How to reset oil life warning

Hi All,
I'm a new (6 months now) happy owner of a 2008 FEH. I did my first oil change early, but now my dash is giving a warning of "x% oil life change soon". It started at 5% oil life, and is down to 1%. I'm a little frightened to see what happens when I hit 0!
I know that I don't really need an oil change and assume this is just linked to the odometer. If I hit the reset button on the dash it goes away, until the next time I start up.
Anyone know how to reset this warning if you change your oil yourself or change your oil on a different schedule?
If it matters I don't have the Nav system.
Thanks for any help, Scott

this is also in another thread, but I did this once before. I think its:
- info (get to the oil %)
- set - set and hold until it clears.

Owners Manual - Page 73 (1st edition) or Page 76 (2nd Edition)

1. Press and release the SETUP
control to display “OIL LIFE =
XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”.

2. Press and hold the RESET
control for 2 seconds and release.
Oil life is set to 100% and “OIL LIFE
SET TO 100%” is displayed.

3. While “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed, if a lower oil life start
value is desired, press and release the RESET control to reduce the start
value. Each press of the RESET control reduces the value by 10 percent.
Note: Oil life start value of 100% equals 10,000 miles [16,000 km] or 12
months. For example, setting oil life start value to 60% sets the oil life
start value to 6,000 miles (9,600 km) and 219 days.

Thanks. I searched this thread to find this answer. I looked through the owners manual as well but with the 3 page index there isn't many items to query towards. Wish the index is a few more pages.

On a side note, I did my very first oil change (both on the FEH at 9870 miles and me actually doing it by hand). I had a guy from work help me after work at the auto hobby shop on the AFB we work at. It was $6 for the lift and we preformed the oil change/filter and rotated the tires. I wish I knew how easy oil changes were. I don't know what 4.5 Q of 5-20 Mobil1 would be at a "jiffy lube" or whatever but it cost me $24.75 for the Oil, $10 for the filter and $6 for the lift for about $40 total. I could probably find the filter cheaper than at the ford dealer.

Just for the record, my oil and filter changes only cost me $29.95 at my Ford Dealer and they use the Motorcraft synthetic blend. They'll do a full synthetic for $49.95.

For me at least, it is faster and cheaper just to let them do it. Plus for my $29.95 they rotate the tires and wash it too.

Just my two cents.

My first oil change (full synth), cost me 44.75 (oil), 6.95 (filter), 11.25 (labor) and 3.37 (tax) so over $66. A week later I got a coupon in the mail that would have been a LOT cheaper.

FWIW, no wash, no rotation.

I have purchased Mobil 1 oil and the Motorcraft oil filter and taken this into the service department at two different dealers and just paid $10 labor plus tax.
