Thanks Billyk. I did get the AWD, and of course it hasn't snowed since. 
This tank should be about the same as the FEH. So, I'll have a loss in the summer 'cause there's no way to get 34+ MPG out of the Mazda, but in the winter at least I'll get the options I need (and some lovely seat warmers which I don't know how I ever lived without!).
