Engine Not Idling Down:??Major Problem or not??

Re: Engine Not Idling Down:??Major Problem or not??
The vehicle ran normally last night and this morning on my trip to work. It appears that it may have just been the "battery conditioning" process.
Today I feel more comfortable that I do not have a more serious problem. I may still get the vehicle checked at the dealership next week to be sure that there is nothing wrong.
Thanks to everyone who had some suggestions regarding this issue.

Funny how things work, I just came home from a movie and my FEH acted exactly as you described. The ICE never shut off and the car ran funny. Also, there was a lot of clicking like I was turning on and off the AC, but I wasn't. Even when I stopped at lights and even put it in park, the engine never shut off.
I hope when I drive it tomorrow all is back to normal.

Turbo- sounds like typical summer conditions. And I mean anything above 70'F!
As far as battery conditioning, I've only consiously noticed it happen one time.
Mine did a weird thing at about 20,000 miles.
I have the Nav with battery icon.
The battery icon was 100% green, and my ICE kept running at lights.
Battery CHARGING continued for about 4-5 minutes, both on the screen, and the charge needle. Outside temps were good, about 65-70 degrees.
After this, the ICE shut down, and I could drive in EV only mode... and drive, and drive... and drive!!!
I got a whopping 3.6 miles of EV over flat, residential roads with lots of stop signs... so there was not a lot of coasting, since I had to stop about every 2 blocks.
My conclusion? The only one that makes sense. I drain my battery every day, but rarely fill it up. ( I just love using EV all the time! ) So this must have been a "Battery Condition Event" where the FEH did a super charge-up... beyond normal... to help break up any "memory effect" however slight, found in NiMH cells.
Has been totally normal since.
