Car won't start in weather > 90 degrees
90 degrees is when my FEH preforms the best - my two best tanks (41.3 mpg each) came when the highs were in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
The HV battery pack, and associated EV driving is optimum in the 60 degrees to 85 degrees range.
Anything above 85 degrees and the car runs the A/C compressor to cool the battery to 75 degrees or less, lowering MPG.
*This applies to the 2005-2008 models. I don't have data regarding the 2009.
**Warmer ENGINE temperatures ( to a point ) generally help MPG. Ambient temperatures above 85 are generally, a dis-advantage.

Had 2 instances this week where my 2006 Escape Hybrid will not start after sitting in the sun for 2+ hours on days where the temps went over 90. First time - towed to dealer, started fine the next day and they can't replicate. Second time - I turned on the heater and it started after 5 minutes, drove it to dealer and they can't replicate. What could this be?
I know it's been while since you posted your problem, but it looks like we encountered the same problem- I also have a 2006 FEH. Do you recall what the fix was? We don't go to hot climates ( 100 deg plus), but when we have, including this weekend, the car will not start. putting the car in shade and opening up the hybrid battery compartment to air out, the car will start.
