Brakes

Re: Brakes
Since I started this topic/thread as brakes and the questions regarding the brake job I had to have performed on my FEH: I do have another question. At 1 point I did know the answqer to this question; but since I have never thought of it that much before, I forgot it. Which is better? Drum or disk brakes?
The reason I am asking this is pretty simple. In this day and age, where most vehicles are using and switching to 4 wheel disk brakes, I wonder why Toyota put rear drum brakes on their Prius (at least the 05 model) And does anyone know how their regen brake system works in comparison to Ford's? (Or should this start a new Thread?)

I'm not sure how their regen system works but in neither case does the type of brakes drum/disc matter in the regen. That is all handled in the transmission/motor combination by running the generator off the wheels (thus loading them and slowing them)

Re: Brakes
You may be surprised to hear that the FEH has Drum Brakes on the rear.
That's not a mistake.
The ( hand ) parking brake is a drum type brake.
There are small drum brakes inside the rear disc rotors.
They are called "drum in hat" type brakes.
Just thought you should be aware.
